The creative arts offer a multitude of opportunities for self-expression! Musicians at Music For Life are encouraged to express themselves in a variety of ways, and some participants have taken their expression to the next level through songwriting. Featured below are several of our talented songwriters and the original music they have created.
SONGWRITERS
Jacob R
Jacob R plays guitar, banjo and ukulele and sings. He writes songs and has performed in The Rock ’n’ Rollers more than 10 years. His musical influences include Tom Chapin, Alice Leon and Jeffrey Friedberg. He describes himself as “friendly and easy to talk to.” He’s funny and has a sense of humor. He likes going out to dinner and his favorite restaurant is Chilis.
“I write about things in my daily life that were or are happening. I write personal songs. In order to write a song I have to come up with the first line of the song. Then I play that part and write the rest. Then I come up with a melody and tempo - slow, fast or medium.” - Jacob R​

“I always like to drink coffee. I want people to go there as often as they can because it’s really good coffee. I recommend getting a large French vanilla ice coffee. I wrote the lyrics and Molly helped me with the melody to make it sound in the right key.” - Jacob R
Jillian L
Jillian L is a songwriter, singer, and guitarist who performs with the AMPS. Her newest song, “I Was Loved” is about the ways she has felt loved in her life.

Select Connect Group
Select Connect is an off-site group that works with MFL Staff to write songs and create music videos. Select Connect has written and produced 9 songs and three music videos.

Abe - My favorite part was making the video and dressing up as a chef.
John Luca - My favorite part was making the video and dressing up as a chef.
Joseph - My favorite song that we recorded was Let's Make Believe.
Kate – My favorite part was making the video and watching it.
Jeffrey – My favorite song we wrote was Dreamers. I loved watching it with my mom.
Sara – My favorite part of the album was my part.
Nicole – I loved dressing up and dancing in front of the green screen. I loved when the camera was on me.
Anthony - My favorite song was Dreamers and Heroes. I am handsome, grateful, and awesome.
Francesca -My favorite song was Dreamers and Heroes. I had fun filming the video clips and dressing up as Katy Perry.
Alex - My favorite scene in the video was the firefighters. I love going to the beach with white sand, blue skies, and yellow sun.
Peter - My favorite song was Dreamers and Heroes. I like to sing and play with blocks.
Ben - My favorite song was Let's Make Believe. I love songs by The Beatles and going on road trips.
Kacie - My favorite song was Life Cycle. I loved making the video with my friends Nicole and Frankie. I enjoy theater, cheerleading, and being a team manager.
