Open to all in the community. No Prior Skills or Experience Necessary to Participate. Space is limited so please contact us to register. 

 

Fun, social and challenging arts-based programming for children, teens and adults. ALL SKILLS, ABILITIES and CHALLENGES WELCOME. Through music, art, theater and movement, our students build valuable functional and arts skills and form meaningful relationships.

We serve people who are developing typically as well as those with developmental delays, developmental disabilities, autism, ADHD, social and emotional challenges, TBI from illness or injury, Alzheimer’s and dementia, and those going through difficult life transitions and more.

Individual Music Therapy

Learn to build important functional skills through music including language and communication, self confidence, focus and attention, memory and social-emotional skills

Individual Music Lessons

Learn to sing, play an instrument, write and record songs with a personalized approach

Music Lessons Description: Students will learn how to play a variety of musical instruments using a personalized approach. They will learn basic music skills including rhythm, melody and harmony as well as music theory. The goal is for them to make playing music a meaningful part of their lives both individually and with others. Social music making opportunities will be explored when they are ready and interested.

FEES: $60/30 mins, $85/45 mins, $120/60 mins      In-home music lessons: $120

Individual Art Lessons

Experience the joys of creating art while exploring a variety of art mediums with a personalized approach

Art Lessons Description: Students will explore a variety of mediums as they learn to express themselves through art. They will explore painting, drawing and collage. They will increase their skills in using art materials and in understanding how color, shape and image express different ideas, thoughts and emotions. Projects will include 2 and 3 dimensional work.

FEES: $60/30 mins, $85/45 mins, $120/60 mins

SATURDAYS

January 21 - April 8 (12 weeks)

11:30 - 12:45am ADULT MUSICAL THEATER CLASS:

Learn to act, sing and dance in a musical! This Winter's show is “SING the musical”.  The show is fun and funny and filled with great songs! The performance will be at a professional theater, Elmwood Playhouse, in Nyack on Saturday April 8th.

Goals: Acting, singing and dancing skills

MONDAYS

January 9th - April 3rd (12 weeks - NO Class 2/20)

9:15 - 10:30am MFL ART ENTREPRENEUR CLASS Session #1

Join the growing Nyack Folk Art Company as it designs, makes and sells art-based products. Participants will learn design AND business skills. Mondays session will focus on greeting cards and wrapping paper AS WELL AS order fulfillment, sales and marketing. This winter we will continue to sell in our online store but we will also explore partnerships with retail organizations throughout Rockland County.  Participants can join 1 or all of the 3 Arts Entrepreneur Classes throughout the week.

Goals: Design and business skills

January 9th - April 3rd (12 weeks - NO Class 2/20)

10:45 - 12noon DRAWING SKILLS ART CLASS 

Lets build our art skills with a class focusing on drawing faces, bodies, animals and a variety of interesting objects. Participants will get to deepen their skills using pencil, pen and marker. From basic figures to using shade and depth, this class is great for beginner to advanced artists. 

Goals: Art skills, fine motor skills and self expression

Teacher: Grace FEE: $450 ($37.50 per class)

 

January 9th - April 3rd (14 weeks - (12 weeks - NO Class 2/20)

12:45 - 2pm MFL TV SHOW CLASS SEASON 3 - ACTING & WRITING FOCUS:

Put on your writer and anchorperson hat as you learn to write and perform segments for the MFL TV SHOW SEASON 3. Coach Rick will help participants to communicate loudly, clearly 7 slowly as they write and perform segments for the show. Episodes will be posted on MFLCAT’s website for distribution. NOTE: You can join 1 or both of MFL TV Show Classes.

Goals: Acting skills, writing and communication skills

TUESDAYS 

Jan 3 - April 4th  (14 weeks)

9:15 - 10:30am “WINTER MOVES” DANCE CLASS:

It’s time to warm up during the cold winter months and learn more dance moves to 

popular dances! Dancing is good exercise and it’s also a great social activity. Knowing the moves to a couple of dances will make every party so much more fun!

Goals: Dance skills, exercise and cooperation

Teacher: Elin  FEE: $525 ($37.50 per class)

Jan 3 - April 4th  (14 weeks)

10:45 - 12noon OPEN ART STUDIO CLASS: Express yourself with a variety of art mediums in this ever popular class. Paint, draw, make collage and sculpture! Each class starts with a short art lesson.

Goals: Art skills, self expression & communication 

Teacher: Grace FEE: $525 ($37.50 per class)

 

Jan 3 - April 4th  (14 weeks)

12:45 - 2pm MFL TV SHOW SEASON 3 - FILMING & EDITING FOCUS:

Session 2 of MFL TV SHOW Class will help you to continue to develop video production skills as you learn how to film, edit and be a TV anchor as you assemble segments for the ongoing MFL TV SHOW SEASON 3. Participants will learn how to use cameras and editing software as well as to communicate on camera and work together. NOTE: You can join both MFL TV SHOW classes if you want.

Participants will learn technology that they can use at home to make their own videos

Goals: Videography, creativity and cooperation

Teacher: Elin FEE: $525 ($37.50 per class)

Jan 3 - April 4th (14 weeks)

2 - 2:45pm SMALL BAND CLASS 

Learn how to play in a band in this class with 3 - 4 participants. Learn how to start and stop a song, play in same tempo with others and share your music with the world! NOTE: Some prior musical skills required for this class so please check with Jeffrey.
Goals: Music skills, self expression and creativity.
Teachers: Molly and Jeffrey FEE: $840 ($60 per class)

3:45-4:30pm ADULT SOCIAL ART CLASSLearn how to use a variety of art mediums in this fun social class. Participants will learn to paint, draw and make collage.

Goals: Art skills, sharing art and creativity

4:30-6:00pm Rock Band Class - Ongoing 

CLASS IS CURRENTLY FULL

Learn how to play in a rock band! This fun class will help you learn how to sing and play instruments with other people. Bring your voice, guitar, bass, keyboard or other instrument and let’s rock!
Goals: Group music skills and working together

Jan 4 - April 5th  (14 weeks)

9:15 - 10:30am  ARTS ENTREPRENEUR CLASS SESSION #2 - TOTE BAG & T-SHIRT PRINTING FOCUS:

Join the growing Nyack Folk Art Company as it designs, makes and sells art-based products. Participants will learn design and business skills. Wednesdays session focuses on T-shirts and tote bags. Products will be continue to be sold in our online store AND this semester we will explore partnerships with retail organizations throughout Rockland County.  Participants can join 1 or all of the Arts Entrepreneur Classes throughout the week.

Jan 4 - April 5th  (14 weeks)

10:45 - 12noon MFL ADULT CHORUS:

Build your group singing skills in the ongoing MFL ADULT CHORUS. This is an always 

popular class! Focus this winter will range from unison singing to 2 part singing to using percussion instruments during singing.

Goals: Group singing skills, self expression and working together

Jan 4 - April 5th  (14 weeks)

12:45 - 2pm SONGWRITING WITH A PURPOSE:

Build your songwriting skills in this fun creative class. Projects will include songs and 

jingles for the MFL TV SHOW, bands and musical theater program. Work individually 

and as a group.

Goals: Songwriting, self expression and communication

Teacher: Molly FEE: $525 ($37.50 per class)

10:45am - 12noon GARAGE BAND RECORDING SKILLS CLASS:

Become a sound engineer and learn the basics of digital music recording! Class participants will record each other in single, duo and band formats to get real life hands on experience. Garage Band will be used as a model for how to use software to record musicians but skills are transferable to other software.

Goals: Audio recording skills

Learn to use a variety of medium to express yourself and make art! Each class starts with a short lesson. Great for beginners who want to build skills and advanced artists who want to work on their own projects.

1 - 2:00pm Rock Band Sectional Class 

CLASS IS CURRENTLY FULL

This class is for members of the Tuesday 4:30pm Rock Band Class. They will practice band parts in a more in-depth manner and work on improvising.

Goals: Band skils, self expression and socialization
