Learn to sing, play an instrument, write and record songs with a personalized approach

Music Lessons Description: Students will learn how to play a variety of musical instruments using a personalized approach. They will learn basic music skills including rhythm, melody and harmony as well as music theory. The goal is for them to make playing music a meaningful part of their lives both individually and with others. Social music making opportunities will be explored when they are ready and interested.

Experience the joys of creating art while exploring a variety of art mediums with a personalized approach

Art Lessons Description: Students will explore a variety of mediums as they learn to express themselves through art. They will explore painting, drawing and collage. They will increase their skills in using art materials and in understanding how color, shape and image express different ideas, thoughts and emotions. Projects will include 2 and 3 dimensional work.

9:15 - 10:30am MOVIE MAKING CLASS SESSION #1
Music For Life is making a movie! Learn how to film, edit and tell a story. This will be a short documentary about our band program. The class is led by a professional filmmaker~
Goals: Video shooting and editing and storytelling skills

9:15 - 10:30am SOCIAL DRUMMING & PERCUSSION CLASS
Let's drum! Learn how to play drums and percussion instruments together. This will include maintaining a steady beat, playing fun rhythms and engaging games and activities!

10:45 - 12noon SUMMER ART PROJECTS CLASS
Let's make summer art! In this class you will design a t-shirt, make a beaded bracelet/necklace and a colorful multimedia art project.

12:45 - 2pm SUMMER IMPROV CLASS
This class is always a blast! Learn how to do improv acting - thinking spontaneously while acting out different scenarios. Start with fun warmups and then engage in fun theater games.

It's time for some summer musical theater! During the summer months we run a musical theater variety show! Participants will get to choose their favorite songs and engage in short skits.

9:15 - 10:30am “SUMMER MOVES” DANCE CLASS:
It’s time move and dance to your favorite summer songs. Dancing is good exercise and it’s also a great social activity. Knowing the moves to a couple of dances will make every party so much more fun!

10:45 - 12noon OPEN ART STUDIO CLASS - ongoing
Express yourself with a variety of art mediums in this ever popular class. Paint, draw, make collage and sculpture! Each class starts with a short art lesson.
Goals: Art skills, self expression & communication

July 11 - August 15th (6 weeks)
12:45 - 2pm MFL TV SHOW SEASON 3: Game Show Theme
Our summer season of the MFL TV SHOW Class will help you to continue to develop video production skills as you learn how to film, edit and be a TV anchor as you assemble segments for the ongoing MFL TV SHOW SEASON 3. Participants will learn how to use cameras and editing software as well as to communicate on camera and work together. NOTE: You can join both MFL TV SHOW classes if you want.
Participants will learn technology that they can use at home to make their own videos.
Goals: Videography, creativity and cooperation

2 - 2:45pm SMALL BAND CLASS - ongoing
Learn how to play in a band in this class with 3 - 4 participants. Learn how to start and stop a song, play in same tempo with others and share your music with the world! NOTE: Some prior musical skills required for this class so please check with Jeffrey.
Goals: Music skills, self expression and creativity.

Learn how to play in a rock band! This fun class will help you learn how to sing and play instruments with other people. Bring your voice, guitar, bass, keyboard or other instrument and let’s rock!

6 - 7:00pm TEEN/YOUNG ADULT CHORUS
It's time to engage in some social singing with Sarah! Build your vocal skills while you learn some cool new songs. This is going to be fun!

It's time to learn how to express yourself in 3 dimensions! Use a variety of mediums to make art that pops off the page. This class will use clay as well as found objects to create a variety of interesting pieces.

Build your group singing skills in the ongoing MFL ADULT CHORUS. This is an always
popular class! Focus this winter will range from unison singing to 2 part singing to using percussion instruments during singing.

10:45am - 12noon GROUP SINGING CLASS - Harmonizing, Call and Response and More
Want to delve deep into singing and learn how to harmonize, use call and response and develop intermediate and advanced vocal skills? This is your class. NOTE: Prior vocal training required for this class. Please talk to Jeffrey if interested.
