We have programs for adults of all ages, skills and abilities. We have experience working with adults to create meaningful and purposeful social experiences through music and other performing arts. Our classes are designed to help build adults build important musical and functional skills, improve their lives and develop a life long love of music. Scroll down below for fees and more info.

Individual Music Therapy:
For children, teens and adults. Work with a licensed music therapist to develop functional skills including social, emotional, cognitive and motor skills. We work with children, teens and adults with a wide variety of challenges including developmental delays, autism, ADHD, developmental disabilities, TBI, dementia and Alzheimers, social/behavioral challenges, and mental health challenges.
FEE: $60/30 mins, $85/45 mins., $115/60 mins
LOCATION: Music For Life Nyack Office and Rockland Conservatory of Music
Individual Music Lessons:
For children, teens and adults. Individual Music Lessons: Our teachers help children, teens and adults learn to play a musical instrument. All abilities, skills and challenges welcome. From singing to piano to banjo to guitar to saxophone to flute to drums to song writing and more. No experience necessary. Self-direction funds are often used for lessons but please check with fiscal intermediary to confirm.
FEE: $60/30 mins, $85/45 mins., $115/60 mins

Middle/High School Chorus
Tuesdays 6:30-7:30pm
For teens in Middle School and High School. Participants will learn to sing and perform a wide variety music as a group. When public health situation resolves, class will have opportunities to share their music in the community.
Goals: social skills, singing skills, self-confidence and cultural literacy.

Participants will rehearse songs, lines and dances for “House of Rock.” The show features popular rock songs embedded in a fun story. The class will culminate in a performance in front of friends and family.
Goals: social skills, self-confidence, music skills, acting skills and dancing skills.

Podcasting Class
Mondays 10:30 - 11:45am
Participants will create and record a podcast about things they like (and dislike) including (but not limited to) music, TV, movies, food, clothing and more. Past interviewees have included a Grammy award winning musician, a local elected official and a Peabody award-winning personality and broadcaster.

Playwriting With Rick
Mondays 12:45 - 2:00pm
Participants will learn how to write and perform musical theater shows in a fun, stimulating and social environment! Through interactive activities, they will develop their creativity, problem solving and ability to successfully complete a group project. Their creation will be presented at the end of the class.

Participants will write and record their songs! Through Zoom and digital recording technology, they will be able to bring their ideas to life and share with their friends.

Chorus

Participants will learn to sing songs from the early/mid 1960’s in a fun social group. The early to mid 1960s produced some amazing songs out of the Motown label. From Smokey Robinson to Diana Ross and the Supremes to Marvin Gaye to Gladys Night to Stevie Wonder, this music is great!

Participants will have a blast doing improv theater activities with each other. These exercises help us learn to be more “in the moment” and increase social awareness and engagement.
